Reactions and Reviews
1990
I really enjoyed this story. It shows that a story can be fun to read without a really complicated plot. It had charm, humor, and was just plain fun to read. Kirk can really turn it on and can attract just about anyone he wants, especially a certain Vulcan we all know. [1]
There were small points of this story that challenged my belief -- such as Kirk helping himself to Procodine — but it was most memorable for the humor. I particularly enjoyed the scenario in the bar, with Kirk being so 'innocently' blatant.
Loved Kay Wells' illo on page 33a. It shows Kirk and Spock with fun-loving expressions (certainly not easy to capture) that fit the mood of the story. [2]
Just the kind I love. Wish it could have been three times as long, but it was of course perfect as it was. [3]
1991
This offering was laced with a kind of subtle, sexy humor I like to think is reserved for long-time K/S watchers. It was good to see Kirk portrayed as a man who prefers his brandy in moderation -- he had too much strength of character to be portrayed as a man who needs a mental crutch. There were lots of little cheek-coloring touches in this story and I loved every one! Nor could I resist Spock's well-described smiles. [4]
1995
One of the funniest stories I've ever read. Puppy love in a most endearing way. [5]
