A Christmas Carol is an 1843 novella by Charles Dickens. The story centers on an elderly miser named Ebenezer Scrooge who, on Christmas Eve, is visited by a series of ghosts who aim to convince him to change his greedy ways. The novella has a staggering number of adaptations, including pastiches by both mainstream and fannish authors.
Fandom
Most of the Christmas Carol-related fanworks online are pastiches, taking characters from one franchise and having them play out the plot of the novella. A small number of fanworks that are directly about the characters of the original story do exist; among them, Marley/Scrooge appears to be a popular slash pairing.
These works are often posted during or close to the month of December, during the holiday season.
