@sexymanOTD is a Twitter account that posts daily features of characters commonly referred to as Tumblr sexymen.
Between 5 September 2022 and 7 September 2022, the account launched "sexyman showdown", a tournament by popular vote between 32 characters. The tournament went viral on social media, attracting fanart, memes, and online fan organizing from fandoms involved, such as Undertale, Mob Psycho 100, Gravity Falls, and the Submas segment of the Pokemon fandom. Engagement and fanworks rapidly increased as the tournament continued, with the final matchup, Sans v. Arataka Reigen, receiving nearly 250,000 votes.
Due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II the following day (8 September 2022), fans began to create memes and other fanworks combining the two events. Many of these memes joked that the tournament itself or Sans was responsible for the death of Elizabeth.
