Duncan/Noah, known mostly as Dunno[1] or Dunnoah, is an uncommon pairing within Total Drama fandom. The ship is between Duncan and Noah, both prominent characters.
Duncan/Noah has been shipped as a rarepair ever since Total Drama: Island (2007) premiered, though the height of the ship's popularity was from 2010 to 2014. A handful of BNFs pimped the pairing during these years on DeviantArt and Tumblr.
Duncan/Noah was once the third-most popular slash ship for Duncan, behind Duncan/Trent and Alejandro/Duncan, and second to Cody/Noah for Noah. This popularity caused some light ship war between Duncan/Noah and Noah/Owen shippers, (which was the most active in 2013.) Both got popular around the same time.
As of the 2020s, the pairing is rare in comparison to other slash ships for Noah, though is still somewhat prevalent for Duncan slash.
Common Tropes
- Enemyslash: In what few interactions Duncan and Noah have on the show, they don't like each other.
- Noah with Piercings: Works may have Noah get piercings, inspired off of their first interaction on the show where Duncan dares Noah to get one on his lip.
- Crime AU: Works may take place in a delinquent-y crime AU where Noah joins Duncan in doing petty crimes.
- Similarities to Courtney/Duncan: May be referenced in discussion. Both Courtney and Noah are preppy and often abrasive.
Duncan/Noah Fandom
Former TD BNFs/"td populars" Bri and Magnus/Marci/Molly are believed to have basically created the pairing around 2009, since Duncan and Noah don't interact much on the show itself and their ship wasn't seen much before they joined the fandom. Their works also inspired others to ship it. As of the 2020s, notable TD fan writer AyaWilliams makes many fics for them on Archive of Our Own.
Their ship name Dunno is also sometimes joked about.
