Alejandro is a contestant on Total Drama. He is a prominent character within the series and popular with fans. As of September 2023, he is the fifth most fanwork'd character from Total Drama as a whole on Archive of Our Own, behind Noah, Duncan, Courtney and Gwen. Other places where fandom lives place him on the same level of prominence.

Wheelchair! and BurnScar! come from the same interpretation of canon some Total Drama fans concluded independently of one another during the airing of Total Drama: All-Stars. Because the post-credits scene at the end of Total Drama: World Tour showed Alejandro being scarred and with broken legs, then in All-Stars, this was revealed to have no lasting physical effects on him, some fanworks feature Alejandro using a wheelchair, leg braces, and/or with burn scars after World Tour and All-Stars ended.

Alejandro may also be portrayed in fanworks as being stuck in the Total Drama Machine after World Tour. Hard to explain here, it's a thing in the show.

In Total Roblox Drama, Alejandro is called Alfonso. Fans may call him this outside of the Roblox fangame. His appreciation days are November 13th (in Chefhatchet's Appreciation Calendar) and July 25th (in Ace-TD's Mega Character Appreciation List).

Alejandro can also arguably be called a Tumblr Sexyman[1].

Is Alejandro Latino?

Alejandro's ethnicity is left purposefully vague. His last name, Burromuerto, which means dead donkey, is a reference to a Spanish saying[Notes 1], and Blaineley states he was born in Spain. So, he is Spanish. However, many fans speculate he is also Latino.

...I am part of the latin fandom, and this community has had HUGE debates over Alejandros nationality lol It's something we can't agree on, because Alejandro is a mix of stereotypes that fit different countries. Although the ones I've seen the most is people agreeing on is headcanoning him being as Peruvian and Salvadoreño, I can't remember the reasons between him being Peruvian but it made sense and I think they did come to a conclusion on that one, I have a peruvian friend whos fan of td, I'll ask him to tell me about it so I can post it if you're interested. The reasons behind him being Salvadoreño are that in one episode he offered "pupusas" to Heather, which are a typical food from El Salvador. I don't know if he's canonically spanish so I owe you that, but I do know he fits a lot of stereotypes that I can totally see him being from Spain, I get it, but they're also the stereotypes that media will try to say are from Latin America and since fresh rarely bothers to do research, I can totally see that they just applied spanish stereotypes and said "wow we just created the most latino character ever!!!" Yes, Alejandro is brown and I like to defend character's ethnicities from being erased but the fact that he's a mix of stereotypes makes him very very complicated. We once came to the conclusion he was mixed and fuck it lol, he's just complicated that way, we as latinos don't get so upset with Alejandro being headcanoned as spanish because WE GET IT. I'd really like to get an input from my peruvian friend to keep talking....[2]

actually in one episode, alejandro mentioned that in his country they eat guinea pigs. guinea pigs (referred as cuy) are commonly eaten in Ecuador or Peru therefore, Alejandro could possibly be Ecuadorian or Peruvian.[3]

Alejandro, the 17 Year-Old Boy

Alejandro is portrayed as 16-17 within Total Drama and never called an adult. This causes conflict with the stereotype he parodies, the Latin Lover, an inherently sexual character trope. Fans unaware of common racial stereotypes might warp existing aspects of his "Latin Lover" character in their fanworks to the extent that Alejandro no longer acts his age.

Latino and Latina Total Drama fans may feel unnuanced and racially biased depictions of his character within fanworks dehumanize Alejandro. In Explicit fanworks, phrases to the tune of, "his slithery Latino voice," are not unheard of[Notes 2][Notes 3], though egregious cases such as these are likely because Total Drama's audience skews young rather than out of implicit malice.

Shipping Alejandro with people he didn't even interact with is so odd, he just gets shipped for being this "alpha latino man" stereotype. Alejandro's Brothers

Alejandro Burromuerto has two known brothers: José Burromuerto and Carlos Burromuerto.

José is a minor character who was mentioned in World Tour and had an appearance on the show during All-Stars. In fanworks, he's typically extremely pompous and thinks little of Alejandro, fitting with canon. During the run of All-Stars, the rarepair of Courtney/José was shipped on Tumblr, typically by fans who didn't like the canon couple Courtney/Scott. Total Drama Dundie, a meme from Tumblr which advertised a fake sixth season of Total Drama, pairs him with Tyler.

Carlos is mentioned in one line during World Tour. The only thing said about him is that he's a professional soccer|football player. In fanworks, fans may portray him as supportive of Alejandro and otherwise uninvolved with the rest of his family. Slippery Slopes by courtney-deserved-better and An Insulting Indifference by Scepterno popularized this interpretation. In fanart, he typically wears green to to match Alejandro's red and José's blue.
