Courtney/José, known mostly as Courtné or Courtsé, is a crack pairing within Total Drama fandom. The ship is between Courtney and José, Alejandro's brother. While Courtney competed in multiple seasons of the show and is a main character, José is a minor character, not a competitor, and appeared in only one scene during Total Drama: All-Stars.
Courtney and José never interacted once during the series, but the pairing was earnestly shipped on Tumblr during 2013 and 2014 by many BNFs in the fandom soon after José debuted on the show. This came about due to somewhat of a ship war/fannish shift for Courtney pairings happening at the time:
- Courtney/Scott was canonical, yet divisive.
- Courtney/Gwen was popular but largely only in femslash-adjacent circles.
- Courtney/Duncan, the closest the fandom has to a juggernaut ship, was waning in popularity and appeared somewhat irrelevant for the first time in the fandom's history.
As a way to make Courtney become closer to the very popular Alejandro/Heather pairing, the ship was born and developed from there. By the time All-Stars finished airing in late 2014, the scene had cooled down and the pairing faded into obscurity. As of 2024, the ship is relatively unknown, even on Tumblr. It's largely seen in a negative light[1] and an artifact of when the fandom's shipping scene on Tumblr predominantly cared about Het couples and revolved around a handful of BNFs.

- Courtney being Heather's sister-in-law: It was what the ship was initially created for.
- Latina Courtney: Courtney's canonical ethnicity is vague, but almost all Courtney/José works have Courtney be Latina if it's mentioned.

Because at first, we thought about how entertaining it would be to see what it would be like to see Heather and Courtney as sister-in-laws. Then us Courtnè fans started to realize how perfect they would be together. Courtney wants everything to be perfect in her life and Josè is like the definition of perfect. She would respect him so much because he has great hygiene, probably has a great plan for his successful future and they probably come from the same social class.There would probably be some flaws about the relationship but I don’t think Courtney would be as controlling with him like she was with Duncan or even Scott.[2]
