In Chinese-Speaking Fandom, Xibai (洗白, lit. Whitewashing) refers to the act of turning a villainous character to a non-villainous character in a creative work. "Whitewashing" is one of the common translation of the term xibai, and some has confused the term xibai with whitewashing, which has different meaning.
