Wolfsong is a Chakotay/Paris story by Speedo.

Summary: Because of the inconsistencies of tptb, this story is slightly au. It's about the Chakotay who first stepped onto Voyager with his phaser at the ready. The one who was teaching Advanced Tactics at the Academy before he quit to join the Maquis. The one who plugged Dalby for disobeying an order and challenged Janeway's Starfleet methods.

Recs and Reviews

This simply has to be my all time favourite story. It's C/P in the best possible way; Speedo has captured everything I appreciate in the pairing and made it into this long, devastating story, infused with an incredibly dark chemestry. Nice. I'm in awe of this Chakotay, and addicted to this Tom. Which is the way it's meant to be, imo. <vbg>

Oh yeah, temperature. Temperature. Did I mention heat? Did I mention stunning, violent heat? Well, I have now. Go play. :)

Oh, and then check out Covert Ops. That's quite, quite delicious too.[1]

Ive recently stumbled onto Voyager slash, specifically Chakotay/Paris. As soon as I saw the pairing it clicked. Chakotay, Mr strong, reliable, brooding, ex-Maquis (revolutionary)now Janeway's right hand man. Tom Paris, sarcastic, flyboy with attitude.

And in the show, Chakotay's character is so...boring. Well the series, Wolfsong by Speedo, is so AU as to be off the charts. Let me quote her intro:

"It's about the Chakotay who first stepped onto Voyager, phaser at the ready. The one who was teaching Advanced Tactics at the Academy before he gave up his commission to join the Maquis. The one who isn't Janeway's dog."

Ooh! I saw the series recc'd elsewhere and intrigued had a peek and saw THAT intro. Then just had a lookat the first story (there are 10 in the series so far). Then had to read the whole damn lot till 3am!

This has a Chakotay who is a powerful, complex figure, a simmering volcano underneath a facade of serenity. You can believe he was a Black Ops trained Starfleet turned revolutionary with powerful sexual needs that he HAS to keep ruthlessly in check.

In the past he used orgiastic one night stands in ultraseedy locations to let off steam after dangerous missions- but that was before they all got lost in the Delta Quadrant.Since then, hes donned the Mr regulation Starfleet persona

Tom Paris is a playboy, restless, not superficial, and well drawn well rounded character in this, not particularly into men, who likes needling Chakotay and and the UST ulitmately explodes into stuff so hot, Im surprised my computer didnt spontaneously combust.

Like all the best slash there is a great story, interesting plot, very well done characterisation, and the sex is done sparingly (more UST,Tom fighting a D/S setup integral to the big guy's needs, and Chakotay fucking with his mind to keep him off balance, than actual sex)so when it happens it counts.

Each man is an alpha male used to being the one in control so the power struggle within the relationship that forms unexpectedly is constant. But Chakotay is THE ONE, ultimately calling the shots, though paying the emotional price. Its not a Sado-Masochistic story, but poor Janeway is completely stunned at what happens between her two officers and Harry Kim (Tom's best friend) is left reeling, inteimidated Chakotay's intensity, wanting to compete for Tom, and turned on as well.

There is Angst with a capital A.

Janeway is stunned as what she thought was a placid, dependable Chakotay who was intersted in her, is revealed as a charismatic, sexual predator with a dangerous past, wrestling with his conscience.[2]

Wolfsong by Speedo - Voyager C/P This is a work in progress, but it's one of the best C/P fics on the net. Speedo is one of my favorite C/P writers, and an all round cool person. Oh yeah, this has to be one of the HOTTEST C/P's out there.[3]
