WinterKnights is a prompt-based holiday fest for the BBC Merlin fandom, with a focus on the winter season (northern hemisphere) and related holidays. All characters, pairings and ratings are welcome.
The fest was first run in 2015, with the LiveJournal community being created on 18 August 2015 and the works being posted anonymously in December that year. The creators were revealed in January. The fest has been run every year since, with the most recent in 2023.
An AO3 collection was created on 30 November 2015, with subcollections for each year's works. The collection profile reads:
WinterKnights - is a prompt based winter fest! Come and celebrate the holidays with us! Christmas, Hanukkah, Traditional Yule, Winter Solstice, or New Years celebrations are all welcome![1]
The most popular fanwork posted to the WinterKnight AO3 collection (based on kudos received) is turn the white snow red by schweet_heart, written for the 2017 fest.
