Summary

Set immediately after the episode "Definitely Miami", the plot concerns Sonny's quasi-split personality and his history with a pair of sadistic underworld figures. It's a rare example of Crockett/Tubbs pairing in a fandom dominated by Crockett/Castillo.

From the Editorial

Wicked Games covers all the bases. Here we have the ever-volatile Sonny Crockett. While dealing with his other half, the dark and manipulative Burnett, Crockett must work undercover to bust a porn ring run by Ramón, a perverted but gorgeous manbeast who seeks and finds his entertainment in pain and bondage, with a little video tape on the side just for laughs.

Add to this mix one Ricardo Tubbs. Dealing with his new-found sexual interest in his hair- triggered partner, Tubbs must handle a case that has Sonny jumping at every noise and seeing Burnett's around every corner - even in his dreams. Oh, and those dreams!

You got yer hot sex; you got yer undercover case; you got yer Burnett driving Sonny crazier than he already is; you got yer even hotter sex; and you got yer evil, wicked, mean and nasty bad guys - and in this case, a very bad gal.

I love Flamingo's characterizations and the way she weaves her tales. You can smell the night's steam rising of the Miami pavement. You can hear the soundtrack. You can feel the heat. I tell you, her writing make this editor sweat!

As if the story isn't perfect enough, we have the illustrations of KOZ. This writer and artist seem to click. They are reunited once again after their first successful novella collaboration, Along the Road of Dreams.

Reactions and Reviews

Crockett and Tubbs get assigned a case that threatens to pull up nasty stuff from Sonny’s past. Flamingo does a great job here, especially the way she portrays Sonny’s inner-struggle to reconcile Crockett and Burnett. [1]
