White Gold Highway is a 140-page gen Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea novel by G.W. Conrad.

Description from a Flyer

In the early 1980s the drug barons of Colombia began to come to world attention as the newest criminal elite. Move over, Mafiosi, there's a new kid on the block — as ruthless as the Dons may ever have been, as dedicated and as fanatical in their opposition to the legitimate government of the United States.

In the poverty of the Third World, modern day warlords grow rich beyond the wildest dreams of greed. The dirt-farmers who used to grow coffee for cents per pound now grow cocaine, which for the bosses is worth hundreds of million of dollars per ton. The marketplace is the streets of the United States, and the world's strangest war is the one waged to get elicit goods to their consumers.

In the melee of the ongoing action, a rising star amongst the barons is Enrique Esteban Cortez, a man whose ambition is matched by his audacity, and when the Drug Enforcement Agency learns Cortez has acquired the means to ship cocaine to the US by undersea routes, they appeal for assistance from the Navy and the Whitehouse.

Seaview is brought into the picture as an executive assignment. Nelson and Crane are briefed on the state of the war, and delegated to use Seaview's unprecedented resources to investigate Cortez's underwater capability, and do anything necessary or possible to thwart the baron's plans. It seems at the outset that they are up against outdated hardware and limited skills, and that it will be a very straight forward operation to track and arrest the smugglers in transit, but nothing is ever as it seems, and when Cortez's dirty-money toys come out to play the world of undersea warfare receives an awakening of the rudest nature.

This time it's Seaview against undefined threats, dedication against ruthless ambition, and the honor of the United States at stake in a game of insane brinkmanship that sees the submarine and her crew cast onto a gameboard as a desperate trump measure, in a game so far out of control no one even knows the rules any more. Hellfire in the Caribbean, military thunder, and a war of nerves in the tropic depths!

GW Conrad does it again — he's after Sara Lansing's handle of "fandom's answer to Tom Clancy," and he comes very close with this one! White Gold Highway is 75, 000 words of dynamite!
