Whether or No is a site for Frodo/Sam and Merry/Pippin 'shippers.
The site was created by Cleo Calliope. The original graphics and banners were created specifically for the site by Daisy Sandybanks. WoN was created to be the list site for the 'Whether or No' E-mail List for Frodo/Sam and Merry/Pippin 'shippers. The list is moderated by Cleo Calliope and Dusk and originally opened on January 19, 2002. Work began on the site in the early summer of 2002 and the fanfiction archive was opened to members of the WoN list on June 17, 2002. The full site was completed the following September. 'Whether or No' officially opened on September 10, 2002.[1]
As of August 26, 2003, the archive hosted 345 stories by 91 different authors. The stories were sorted in alphabetical order by title and by author and by content. The content was sorted by pairings and by the following categories: Angst, "Alternate Universe", First Time, Het Content, Humor, Hurt/Comfort, Pre-Slash, "Plot? What Plot?", Angsty Romance, Non-Angsty Romance, Hobbit Shorts, Works in Progress.
The site also featured a page with doujinshi scans, a Hobbit image gallery, a page with bits of randomness (games, rambles, rants, and lists), a Whether or No Keepers list, FAQs, mailing list and story submission information, a links section and Lord of the Rings Writing Resources.
Whether or No was affiliated with the Mithril Awards.[3]
