We Always Return is a gen zine featuring characters from the Ace Attorney video games and centered on the theme of family across the four seasons.

Even when the battle is over, and the bonds that connect us are severed…We always return…Time and time again"

We Always Return is an Ace Attorney Seasons zine centred around the theme of family. This project aims to highlight all the various relationships of both blood and bond and everything in between.

The project was first announced on Twitter on February 22, 2020. The mod team introduced themselves as the same team who ran The Speakeasy. The zine was established to be a for-profit project that would be safe for work, so there would be no minimum age for applicants. The zine would also not depict any romantic relationships.

Interest checks began on March 1, 2020. The project also ran a monthly newsletter to provide updates on the zine's progress. Interest checks then closed on March 13, 2020 with a reported total of 189 responses. Contributors could begin applying for the zine from March 15 to April 12, 2020.

Preorders open on September 17, 2020 with the following pricing tiers:

• Seed ($15 USD) - Digital Zine
• Sprout ($25 USD) - Digital Zine, Physical Zine
• Sapling ($16 USD) - Digital Zine, Physical Zine, Sticker Sheets
• Blossom ($48 USD) - Digital Zine, Physical Zine, Buttons, Charms, Sticker Sheets

An hinged enamel pin could be added onto Sapling and Blossom bundles. As stretch goals, at 25 orders, all physical orders would receive a random polaroid print from a set of four, and at 75 orders, all physical orders would receive the full set of polaroid prints. Preorders closed on October 17, 2020.

Orders were shipped out by January 12, 2021. Leftover sales began on February 1, 2021 with similar pricing tiers as preorders and ended on February 26. The project announced its close on April 12, 2021.
