Warrior of the Past is a slash Starsky & Hutch story by Charlotte Frost.

It was printed in Heart and Soul #5 and later online.

The Author Comments

I pitied one of my betas where this story was concerned. She was very much a Hutch/DS fan, and she couldn’t stand for Hutch to be depicted as anything other than perfect. So, I always had to filter her comments through her admitted prejudices. I’m not sure this little piece can claim to be very realistic, but I liked writing it, and I even re-read it on occasion. It gives me a wicked chuckle. [1]

I still chuckle at the SH story, "Warrior of the Past", where most of it is a letter that Hutch wrote to Internal Affairs. An "it's all about Hutch" beta was very disturbed that Hutch lied in the letter about an important fact. I countered, "Do you want me to point out all the times in the series that Hutch told a lie?" I could imagine her muttering when she answered back, "No. That's okay." [2]

Reactions and Reviews

It's mostly written as a report from Hutch explaining WHY he broke into an art gallery and stole a painting. The explanation is very well-thought out. I believed him, really I did. The problem is...it's not all that it seems. I love the twist at the end. [3]

An excellent writer. Too angst ridden at times for me, but always well crafted and always interesting and fun. [4]
