"Waiting" is a ficlet by Florence A. Watson (fawatson) based on Mary Renault's 1953 novel The Charioteer. The story was written in honour of Remembrance Day. It is set shortly before the events of the main part of the novel, and expands on Laurie's canonical meeting with Reg as they wait on the beach at Dunkirk for evacuation.
