Wafsi is a semi-popular fanfiction author in the Mo Dao Zu Shi and Naruto fandom. She's from the United States and joined Wattpad April 18th, 2013, Qoutev December 11th 2013, Fanfic.net January 6th 2015, Archive of Our Own August 18th 2016, and Twitter in April 2021. She's also written fanfiction for the Harry Potter fandom. Before 2015, she was known as a silent reader.
Her favorite genre to write is Angst/Comfort, and she is often known to joke that she has a teapot full of her readers tears to make tea.[1] Up until 2021, before deciding to retire, she served as co-owner of the NarutoWattyAwards.[2] A well known Wattpad profile that serves as a competition of sorts for the Naruto fandom. She has confessed several times that she is obsessed with anything involving tea. Her coined phrase is "shakes teapot." She is known to have helped start the twin sister trope in the Naruto fandom. Particularly for the character Nohara Rin.
She has returned and is now trying to write original novels of her own. 'The Rebirth of a Sci-Fi Villainess' is her first attempt at writing an original work.
In Real Life
Not much is known about Wafsi in real life, as she is somewhat shy. However, she has disclosed that she is divorced and has one child, a son. Wafsi has admitted somewhere in her childhood, she grew up with willow trees and often played in a bamboo river.[2] She has admitted she likes crows, and is or was a practicing wiccan. She also states that she experienced several spooky things due to her sixth sense.[3] Wafsi is also known to own one cat named Pandora, and that while "she loves dogs", she has more connection to cats and is therefore a cat person. The pronouns she goes by are she/her, and she has stated she is firmly demisexual. [3]
On the side, she likes to create herbal tea blends. She currently has her own custom tea blends on Adagio. [4] The teas are labeled as Whimsical Teas.
Personality & Other
Wafsi is known to have a sweet, friendly, helpful, cheerful, sometimes sassy, and kind personality online. Though some often stated Wafsi is sometimes too honest, too blunt, and writes too negative for their tastes. [3] She's often always willing to give helpful suggestions or provide written suggestions/ideas. She is absolutely against any type of online harassment or bullying. [5] She confessed to loving cheesy jokes and puns. She has always encouraged her readers and followers to write how they want. And that everyone has a fair opinion, even if others may disagree.
Wafsi has firmly stated that the one type of fanfiction she will not write is the ones that involved real, actual people.
"I will still stand by this until the day I stop writing, and I do mean it. I've even been threatened to write these types of fanfics and still refused. I won't write about actual living people. Maybe historical figures, but that's an honest stretch. My own reasoning is that it's a literal backhanded compliment to the person you are writing about. Say Tom Hollad found out there are stories about him, but he reads and realizes the writer has twisted his personality to fit their needs or wants. It's basically saying 'oh, I love you, but I would love you more if-' and honestly, that's cruel and unsettling to me. I think I would be devastated if I came across someone writing a fanfic about me personally." [6]
She has also disclosed ADHD and the frustrations that go with it.
"So I have something called ADHD. I have the combined type, which is both the inattentive and hyperactive/impulse types are kinda mesh together. It makes each simple day a very hard task for me. At work, at home, online. Wherever I go, it affects me in some way, and I honestly get frustrated with it so much. I am constantly losing things, I forget appointments, which makes me double schedule a lot, and keeping up with writing things. If you are a friend or follower of mine, then you should know that I take forever to update things. Or sometimes I will come in from no where and mass update a lot of stuff. I am currently waiting to see my doctor, so I can try and get some medication to help me focus more. So please stop leaving comments like update, update now, you are too slow in updating, I'm dropping this. It only serves to stress me out and make me feel like shit." [6]
Wafsi was more recognizable in the Naruto fandom via the platform Wattpad and the popular profile NWA. When asked in an interview about it: [2]
Interviewer: You seem to have many people you care for and are friends with. As one of the co-owners of the NWA account, what is your favorite part of it? What inspired you to create this account? Wafsi: It might sound like I have a lot of friends, but I really don't. I'm an awkward person with ADHD, mental issues, and other illnesses that keep me from having friends? Like I love making friends, but after being hurt and betrayed a ton, I am weary and won't reach out to someone unless they either do it first or my gut instincts tell me to. As for the NWA account, I uh actually did not create it as more-so it was given to me and Chasing_Happy!?!? I just remember Chasing_Happy inbox me one day, going 'hey own this account with me, so we can have fun with fellow Naruto fans', and I was like 'meh sure why not'
Controversy
Wafsi has faced a few plagiarism problems. She was also accused of plagiarism via her Naruto fanfic, Lavender Rain, in 2020. The story she was accused of plagiarizing was Unravel the Hourglass by Deadly-Neko. Her response to the accusations:[6]
"Hello Readers, I wanted to talk about one of the new stories I will be posting here soon. The story is a time travel story involving Sakura, and it will be called Lavender Rain. I wanted to explain to everyone that as they read the story, they will notice similarities to another story on here called Unravel the Hourglass by @Deadly_Neko. What many people do not know is that in the 2013-2016 years, I went by the username Kumoriko, and I had several stories on here I pulled, like my Always Alone story, along with Never Alone, the sequel to it. At the time, I decided to pull Unravel the Hourglass after finishing the chapter, where Sakura is taken and made into the three tails jinchuuriki, because I felt Sakura became too overpowered, and the story went off the rails from what I wanted it to be. Deadly Neko wanted to try and keep the story going, and I gave her permission to republish it with the agreement that she would credit the cover, book title, description, and the chapters I alone wrote to me. She never did, and to this point has not, and I do not know why. I'm not plagiarizing, I'm taking an old story I willingly gave out and revamping it once more. Deadly Neko welcomed to continue the story of old. I've said my piece."
Deadly_Neko later confirmed Wafsi's statement.
Notable Works
Wafsi's most notable work began with the Alone Duology[7], which reached nearly a million reads on Wattpad, before being pulled by the author, citing it was "too childish and cliche." You can now only access it on Qoutev. The story is part of Naruto Fandom.
