WANDERLOONA is a LOONA fanzine and artbook created by Orbit Artcord, a Discord group dedicated to creating fanart for the K-Pop group LOONA. It is based on the theme of "travel" and was released in 2020.[1]
About
From the Zine's Google Info & FAQs:
WANDERLOONA is the first ever fanart zine project by Orbit Artcord, a discord artistsâ community that was created by orbit artists, for orbit artists. The idea to create an Artcord zine existed for a while but was sparked again when one user printed out member's art and put them in a binder, making it look like a little zine in itself. With the idea back in the room, our team quickly came together and started to discuss the possible themes we could have.
Most importantly, we wanted to show our appreciation and gratitude to LOONA. That no matter what happens, Orbits will wait for and stay with them.
Ultimately the team decided on the theme of travel, which not only ties into "loonatheworld" perfectly but also allowed us to show them a fraction of where they are beloved in the world. So, in this zine, you will find LOONA travel to each artist's home country![1]
History
Development
The idea for a zine had been talked about by the Discord group for a while. However, it was sparked after one user decided to print out members' art and compile it into a binder. From this, the rest of the group discussed planning and eventually created 'WANDERLOONA'. The artists for the project were chosen 'in-house', meaning through a closed sign-up within the Discord group, rather than a public sign-up. They purposefully chose artists from across the world to align with the theme of travel. The idea was created in 2020, during the COVID lockdown as a way to connect in the difficult times.[1]
Release
It was released in 2020 in five versions named after LOONA songs. The first, was a digital version called "favOriTe", and a pack with both digital and physical called "Curiosity,". The last three releases were called "Stylish", "Daeng Daeng Daeng", and "365" that contained the zine alongside some custom-made photo-cards and polaroids.[4] The proceeds were donated to the Kim Lip Birthday Project and the Yves Birthday Project to fund their own zine development.[5][6]
There was also a Korean copy intended to be sent to the members.[7]
