From the editorial:

For those of you who read "Heartsounds I" fanzine, you were witness to the birth and fledgling steps of my original character Vina in three short vignettes. She was inspired by the likes of E.E. Smith's "Lensman", by Zenna Henderson's "People" and last but not least, by Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonmen of Pern" books. Those who have read any of the previous works know how well sci-fi or fantasy touches upon a character can suspend disbelief. I maintain that their superb storytelling is enhanced by how those stories are woven together using telepathy, telepathy, and/or telekinesis. Their stories can be read repeatedly, although you already know how they end. ..." From the prologue of Vina I: "Vina was born in an alternate universe in the future of Beauty and the Beast. She is a response for those who so wish Vincent and Catherine to have their "happy life". This universe exists where Vincent and Catherine have finally joined in a union sanctioned Below. Catherine has been canny enough to use her legal connections to have it sanctioned Above as well, for the sake of her children. Catherine's father is still alive, as is Vincent's. Their fathers are ancillary characters who appear from time to time.

Vinadreams are short interwoven vignettes dealing with Vincent's and Vina's dreams about life and the future.

From the editorial:

....in case anyone is confused, I will hasten to reiterate that the Vina universe is an alternate future constructed within the Beauty and the Beast world of 1987-1989. How this world will change during the 1989-1990 season is yet unclear. In any event, my ail has been strongly for the Vincent-Catherine relationship to continue toward their "happy life" and has lobbied for further character development of Vina's siblings. .....And that is Vina II.....

The fiction and poetry is by Kay Simon unless indicated otherwise.
