Valence is a popular Friends at the Table player character who appears in the military SF season PARTIZAN. In canon, they are an emissary from an alien culture sent to another arm of the galaxy, where they find work as a mercenary and subsequently help to start a revolution.

History

Common Ships

  • Balence - By far the most popular Valence ship in the fandom; also popular with the show's cast.[1] Valence and Broun begin as coworkers and over time become very close and "intimate" friends who have a profound impact on one another's lives. Much is also made in fandom of their two-way telepathic link.
  • Gurvalence - Valence is also sometimes shipped with Gur Sevraq, a religious figure and purported prophet who worships the same god as Valence. Gur and Valence develop a close relationship in canon.
  • Gurbalence - The popularity of Balence and relative popularity of Gurvalence gave rise to a Gur/Broun/Valence OT3.

[...] Whenever they were together on screen, [Austin] would be like, 'Yeah, I’m into this, because I ship them.' And me and Dre would be like, 'Yeah. We get it. It’s sexy and it’s good.'"
