Hi, Kiwisue! It was brought to our attention that you were removing names from wiki pages and that it looked like an identity protection issue. Generally, it works best for the concerned party to notify the Wiki Committee directly; otherwise, editors might revert the changes, and the committee has better tools for erasing private data from the wiki completely. contact form.--æþel 18:03, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

OK, done. Does the facility also exist to tag names & catch future attempts to add that information back into the wiki pages? I'm pretty sure that in relation to the author of 'Mixed Doubles' I had a conversation with Ratcreature a long time ago (if my memory is correct - not guaranteed of course, but the discussion has since been purged) along similar lines. It would be nice to have some confidence in this area.
if you click the WATCH tab on a particular article, you will receive an email notification whenever that page is edited. I don't know of a way to prevent particular words or phrases from being added to the wiki. If there's a persistent issue with people repeatedly adding inappropriate content to a particular page, we have the ability to protect the page, but if it's an honest mistake, we just revert the change.
As for the conversation with ratcreature, I see two pages: Talk:Stuck on You, Talk:The Best of DIAL: 1997-2002. I don't know if that's what you were thinking of.--æþel 02:20, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, those were the ones. I couldn't remember the zines. I could have looked up my edits but I'd had a login confusion & wasn't sure which ID it was under. I have to say it's a little disconcerting when you think you're doing an OK thing "just jump in and start editing" to get "why did you do that?" BTW (re. DIAL) you've edited in S W's name as the publisher of DIALJ - she was the one who said I should change it from Sheila Willis to S.W. as I noted on the discussion page.
If I may chime in, since we're working on this wiki to chronicle and preserve fannish history I think we're much more sensitive to information being removed than information being added and therefore much more likely to ask for an explanation. It's not meant to discourage people, and I hope it didn't come across that way. --Tiyire 15:31, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Chime away! I am all for preservation, but I do think a little more thought could be given to public display of information - I would argue against assuming anything, particularly when adding names from non-internet sources. --Kiwisue 10:07, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to you, Kiwisue! --Mrs. Potato Head 12:59, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you!
