Hi, FJBryan! I've been cheering all day watching you adding stuff to Pros -- you've been amazing. But I wanted to give you a heads-up before you got too deep in the character pages; Fanlore is designed to have the strongest emphasis on fannish activity, with just enough canon to give some background context. The theory is that lots of other places host background info (the Lounge, Dave Matthew's site, various primers...), but there's no one place that gathers up all the actual fannish lore/activity about things, and Fanlore wants to do that, rather than just replicating info available elsewhere.
So a summary of Bodie's background is great to show who he is, but the focus should be on how fandom has reacted to him -- trends, discussions, fanfic, art, vids, and so forth, with links for particularly notable fanworks or essays. If a page is too canon-heavy, eventually someone will come along and edit a lot of it down to keep it brief, so I didn't want you to be putting a ton of effort in. (If you have a lot of info you don't feel is available elsewhere, the best thing to do is to post it somewhere else -- a webpage, an LJ, a forum, anyplace public and appropriate -- and then link back to it.) --Arduinna 01:22, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, Arduinna. Actually, I sat staring at this page trying to figure out how to start a fannish page about Bodie for the longest time. Finally, I realized that canon could provide the structure for a good bit of the fanon. It's only there to give me the outline, so I can tie in links to the stories and vids that I know about. Don't worry, I'll weed a fair bit of the canon stuff out myself, once the outline gives me what I need. And I'm not fussed if someone else edits it--that's what a wiki is about. Cheers, --FJB 01:37, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, good! No worries, I just didn't want you getting caught by surprise -- some people have been. :) And also, seriously, you are making me so happy with all this, you just don't know. *g* Cheers! --Arduinna 01:52, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
