Until the End of Time is a gen Back to the Future 146,000 word novel by Mary Jean Holmes.

The author's description: "Although November 9, 2002 started off innocently enough -- Chris Brown's seventh birthday party, some digging through the attic, a walk out to the lab to tinker with old ideas and try to make them work -- things took a definite turn for the worse when monitors in the Time Machines suddenly signaled a multitude of changes to history -- while nobody was traveling through time. Not only did this present Doc and Marty with the puzzle of just how this was happening, but it brought with it a deadline: Within ten years, the entire space-time continuum would destroy itself, unless they could find out what was happening and how to correct it before a temporal ripple reached a certain point in Doc's future and made correction impossible, forever...."

Reactions and Reviews

Until the End of Time by Mary Jean Holmes is very different than her other stories. I know she has a set chronology to her stories, but I skipped over all of her other ones to read this one because she described it in the sysopsis as being very serious and dark--something you don't normally associate with Back to the Future (well, except for the second movie). I liked the dark, twisted plot because it was a nice change of pace after having read a few happier, stuck-in-[insert time period here]-and-there's-some-kind-of-problem-with-the-time-machine-type stories from other BTTF fanfic authors; not that there's anything wrong with those kind of stories.[1]
