Reactions and Reviews
Fraser doesn't strike me as someone who'd celebrate his own birthday, but I can understand the yearning to do so. Still, how do you go about it if no one else knows the date? Without the date, how can anyone throw you a birthday party? And Fraser talks a lot, but says little, so it's a given that Ray might misunderstand this or that -- thankfully he's good at changing tracks fast and at understanding Fraser-ish. This story never fails to give me a warm feeling in the pit of my stomach.
In her author's notes, Speranza says that this didn't turn out like it was in her head. I can't imagine it being any better though. The premise is that Fraser invites Ray to dinner a fancy resturant that holds only bad memories for Ray and so Ray is sure Fraser has bad news. Ray's angst as he watches Fraser and his worry builds is fabulous. [2]
