The Unsung Authors Awards were Hanson fanfic awards designed to reward authors who flew under the radar a bit. The creator, Juliette, explained her motivation as follows:

When I created these awards, my intent was to recognize those who were constantly overshadowed by the big names: Llama, Laura, Nick, etc. I never expected to win every category I was nominated in. That almost saddens me, because now out of principle I can't win those this year. Much like the Hanfic Literary Awards, I'm adding a new rule: those who won last year cannot be in the running this year. You can nominate a past winner (thus sending them a nominee banner) as a nod to their continued excellence, but once voting rolls around, they won't be on the ballot. Which means I won't be on the ballot for any of the categories I prided myself in being in. I'll add some new categories and tweak some old ones, and layout the process the same way I'm doing The Kitchen Sink Awards, with a checkbox ballot to get all your nominating/voting done at once. So, let's get back to business.[1]
