Under the Dome is a CBS science fiction drama television series based upon the novel with the same name by Stephen King.

Canon

In the novel, a town called Chester's Mill is inexplicably surrounded by a giant, transparent and indestructible dome. The residents of the town find themselves cut off from the rest of the world. Many outside forces try to destroy the dome, such as the government and the military. The people trapped inside try survive, while a small group unravels the mysteries of the dome.

Show canon deviates from book canon a few episodes in. The main difference is in how religion is handled. In the book, religion plays a major part in the story. This was avoided in the show, replacing scenes critical of religion with different plot devices that lead the story in a similar way, but without the subtext.

Fandom

Many fans weren't pleased with the differences in the novel to show adaptation.[1]
