Under Pressure is a The Professionals vid by Ancasta. It was posted to The Circuit Archive on November, 2006, and uploaded to the vidder's YouTube Channel on May 31, 2008. It is a slash vid with the pairing of Bodie/Doyle as well as a character study of the relationship between Ray Doyle and Bodie.

Vidder's Notes: "I probably shouldn't admit to a fav among my own vids, but I do think, out of all my Pros work, Under Pressure is probably the best match of music and theme. I wanted this vid to be about a day in the life of Bodie and Doyle. It seems to me the only way you make it through some of the situations they face is by leaning on those closest to you. The lads' friendship or love (love, love) allows them to be better people, which then allows them be better to the people around them. The vid builds to the famous scene from Fugitive where a bloodied Bodie runs desperately away from his friends, bomb strapped to his chest, willing to sacrifice himself if it means Doyle and Cowley survive. Doyle pounds after him, every bit as determined to save his partner, even if it means sacrificing his own life in the effort. This is ourselves under pressure.

(ORIGINAL NOTE: For me, this is a day in the life of Bodie and Doyle. Their relationship and the love they share (take that as slash or gen--I think it works either way) allow them to be the men they are. This is ourselves under pressure.)"

It won a No Frontiers Video Award for Best Use of Music.[1]

Reactions/Reviews

  • "I very much enjoyed that vid. The "pressure" particularly worked well with the explosions and their tense situations--afraid I don't know enough Pros vids to take a night and rec any, though."[2]
  • "I'm not very clued in about vids (only have a tiny handful saved on my mp4 player) so I think I shall likely have a lot to learn from following this ongoing conversation! Under Pressure is one of that handful. I love the track, and it works so well for them." [3]
  • "This is one of my all time favourite Pros vids -the way the tension mounts throughout the vid, it's is brilliantly constructed, I love it." [4]
  • "It's a wonderful, wonderful video. I love the song, and that is always a bonus for me - there are vids where even though I could see what the vidder had done, her vision, so to speak, I just could not stand the song. Fair enough, there are vids with songs I never thought I would like, and instead, in the context provided, worked a treat. This video encompasses all the Lads are and do, with a great beat-based pacing. The lyrics match, not just in terms of images (which is not always necessary, at all) but because the overall sense of the song is existential, on the verge of a precipice, describing a struggle with lots of losses and only a few wins. So there has to be a reason to do it all, and the Lads, every day, go out there and find that reason. We all know that to them, it's not just a 'job'. Doyle and Bodie's reasons may not be the same, and Doyle most often comes across as the more idealistic of the two, but to see all that they risk (very poignant moment, when Bodie jokingly points his fingers to Doyle's head)...this video puts it all together, with emotions, rhythm, and very dynamic editing. Love it, stirred all my Pros feels :D" [5]
  • "So, I followed you here from a "Starsky & Hutch" video, and now you've got me all flummoxed about the sheer beauty and utter manliness of Bodie. He can freaking surf across the hood of a tiny British 1970s car. What a man! Thanks for stealing hours of my time that could have been better spent cleaning house or earning money, and redirecting it to an obsessive string of online viewings of "The Professionals." You are the queen of quality fanvids. No one else has your pace and timing."[6]
