Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1
For a few editors, their first issue is their best. For others, it is their worst. This one MUST be an exampe of the latter. It can't get much worse. The zine's production is a little messy. The master copies mush have a lot of liquid paper on them. I say this because some words are almost impossible to read. The artwork is simply attrocious. Ther is wasted space all over the place. The first story is a decent mystery. It was printed elsewhere, but this edition was better. Mr. Landers can be a skillfull writer at times, and this story is one of his better efforts. The second piece is a spoof on 'Metamorphosis.' Kiel is an absolute delight for fans everything she picks up her pen to write. There are references even to Kafka's story by the same name. Intelligently written, and funny. What more could you want? The third piece is a ST:TMP sequel to 'The Doomsday Machine.' Though simply a well-written piece, the concept employed is very reminiscent of 'Bolo,' a pro-published SF novel. Still, nice. Overall, the issue gets 55 on our scale of 100. Nice try, but I hope things get much better. Wait until later before you purchase an issue of 'Total Entropy.' Wait until they get their act together. [1]
