The Tolkien Experience Podcast is a podcast created and run by Tolkien scholar Luke Shelton in collaboration with Sarah Brown and Sarah Westvik. The podcast's aim, as stated on Shelton's website, "is an attempt to bring the fan and scholarly communities together around our shared passion: the works of J.R.R. Tolkien!"
For each episode, Shelton interviews a Tolkien fan or scholar, using five questions that are part of his Tolkien Experience Project:
- How were you introduced to Tolkien’s work?
- What is your favorite part of Tolkien’s work?
- What is your fondest experience of Tolkien’s work?
- Has the way you approach Tolkien’s work changed over time?
- Would you ever recommend Tolkien’s work? Why/Why not?
Shelton has invited scholars and fans with a variety of perspectives onto his podcast, including Tolkien studies scholars, fan studies scholars, artists, organizational leaders, businesspersons, authors, and other podcasters.
