Summary
I stepped through the hourglass and felt it's sand shower over me like a waterfall. I came out on the other side, in a place I never knew I wanted to be, in a time I didn't know I needed to be in, to a love I didn't know I longed for.
Reactions and Reviews
When I originally saw that you were doing an authors cut, I was kind of upset. The original is the best fanfic that I have ever written [[sic. read?]], and I was afraid that changing it in any way would ruin it. However, after reading the new prologue, I realize that you will not be ruining it. You are one of the few authors who would be able to change a great story for the better. I can't wait to see how you are able to make such a well written story even better.Soaker[1]
This story has the be the BEST story I have read. You are one of the most talented authors I have seen. When I read "Through the Hourglass" I was blown away. You created such wonderful characters and used great dialogue. So now that there is an authors cut, I can't wait to see how you could possible make it any better. But so far you are doing a great job. I was sad when the story ended but at least you had them get together in the end. I love Spot. There is just so much you could do with his character. Well keep up the good work and I'll be waiting for next chapter.BlackWiltedRose[2]
Like you said, this time travel story does have an interesting twist to it. This is only the second one I've liked. I did read this version first, then the original. I have to say that the improvement in your writing is great.I loved the original plot, but you really did make this a more dynamic, full-bodied story with the changes and scene changes. I'm excited for you that you would consider making this a published novel-from the redrafting I've read, and the basic plot in the original, I really think this would be a book that once I found in a bookstore, would quickly be on my own book shelf (despite my obvious bias to all things newsie:) I can't wait to read what happens next!Apollonia Veritas[3]
I started reading this years ago, when I was much younger, & times I would die to return to; especially if I could know what I do now. When I first began this story years back, though I don't remember the exact time, you didn't have more then 10 chapters up, & though I checked fairly regularly it was hardly updated much to my impatience(I actually seem to have endless patience except when it comes to stories lol). But though I adored your story as one of my favorites, time went by & others distracted me & I became inavoidably busy with other teenage escapes. Here I sit so many years later. Though still young, 21, 22 this coming May; I've been through what I feel is more then my fair share, physically & emotionally, most though not all of which has been caused by men, & for my part bad judgement or timing...like Briar. I'm like her in so many ways, yet we have differences that can't be ignored. Like her, I feel I'm in the wrong time. Don't get me wrong, I love many of the advantages & freedoms & luxuries we now have, & greatly appreciate all so many have gone through & risked for me to have the life I currently live & am grateful for all my blessings. Still, I can't help feeling that I am an 'old soul' as you'd say, perhaps made for a simplier time :D Much like Briar, while I appreciate the struggles gone through to give us women the freedoms & rights we now have, I've never wanted much more then to have the womanly traditions of being a wife, having a family & tending to said family & home. Now...I'm struggling with the uncertainties of where I want to go & what I want to do with my life, or more accurately, how to go about making any of it happen. I feel lost, like I don't fit in anywhere. Even among my family where I'm definitely the outcast, & among some of my closest friends. Most Briar & my differences lie in the fact that I believe her far more brave & strong then I. I hunger for those traits & the courage to use them should I be graced wih themTatsiana[4]
I can't believe it's been over a decade since I first read the story of Cameo, but I know that I found it just in time for the epilogue to be posted. I guess, I just wanted you to know that your writing has definitely touched someone. Anytime I want to read something that I know will make me smile (and I've recently read Pride and Prejudice), I reach for my computer and read this. Funny how I can always forget how much it also makes me cry. To this day, when I'm upset with myself I whisper "Give me a pink dress and call me Sarah." I swear I get the same kind of looks that Cameo got, but it's the little things about the written word that sticks with you.Jeska[5]
oh my god oh my god! I followed the original of this and the rewrite for years and years on ff.net!! I'm so so so excited to see it here too! I love the way you write and I have loved this story from the beginning, all versions of it. Can't wait to read more!
