Thorfinn is the main character of Vinland Saga. He's also known as Thorfinn Karlsefni (byname) or Thorfinn Thordarson (patronymic). He is based on the historical figure who sailed to Canada near the start of the 11th century.

Thorfinn is sometimes criticized for not getting enough spotlight in the first arc of the series, and sometimes for abandoning violence in later arcs.
He is most commonly shipped with Askeladd, Canute, Einar and his canonical wife, Gudrid. Occasionally he is shipped with Snake.
