Thirst Aid Kit is a podcast "about pop culture and thirst," co-hosted by Nichole Perkins and Bim Adewunmi.[1] It is produced by Buzzfeed.
Lust is a feeling. Thirst is the performance of that feeling. Join Bim Adewunmi and Nichole Perkins as they explore the public ways women express their desire, particularly in this moment when we are all asking more pointed questions about Hollywood, representation, and opportunity. Examine why we desire who we desire through conversation, original fanfic, and fantasies that take us by surprise...like a lion would a gazelle.- the Spotify description for Thirst Aid Kit[2]

Fanfic Wars
At the end of each episode, Perkins and Adewunmi read drabbles composed for the show. Listeners are invited to vote for the best drabble via a Twitter poll posted to the Thirst Aid Kit Twitter a day or two after the episode drops. The drabbles are typically reader-insert RPF stories. Listeners are also invited to submit their drabbles on the Thirst Aid Kit Tumblr.
During the hiatus between seasons one and two, a compilation video of various friends of the podcast reading reader-submitted drabbles was posted to the Thirst Aid Kit Tumblr, along with a note that described the relationship between fic and their podcast:
OK, listen. You know we love drabbles – fanfic is a cornerstone of the Thirst Aid Kit universe! And we also LOVE it when you send us your fanfic. We have received so many thirsty lines about the things you would like to do to a number of famous dudes, from Keanu to Donald Glover via Chris Evans and Shug Avery (!).
So to celebrate the end our hiatus and our imminent return for Season 2, we asked a few of our BF friends to read a small sampling of your thirstiest, most wonderfully ridiculous fanfic. They delivered. Enjoy!- a post on the Thirst Aid Kit Tumblr[3]

Reactions and Reviews
Interviewing Perkins and Adewunmi about their podcast for Elle, Mattie Kahn writes:
In experience, the podcast is pure escapist romp—with a dash of sexual politics. But in context, as the national news media continues to explore sexual harassment and issues around consent, Perkins believes it's more than mindless entertainment. It's a statement. "It's really important to give women a space to show what we are interested in and what women want," Perkins says, adding that we "need to talk about the limits of desire," with special attention paid to what that means for women.- "Someone Pour Me a Cold Drink, the Thirstiest Podcast on the Internet Is Here" by Mattie Kahn for Elle[4]
