One of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. I'm a sucker for a good legend and this story has a dandy! The old man and his wife are so clearly passionately, completely in love that you ache for them to be together. The fact that they use Spock and Uhura to fulfill their needs is priceless! Along with the heart-stopping love story of the aliens, Wildcat has given us the most marvelous look at several of my favorite TOS characters. The humor in this story just won't quit! When Uhura wakes up next to Spock, *Spock*, I blinked in surprise. Then, as I read on, I smiled my most wicked grin and lost myself in the pleasure of the story. When McCoy learns of their predicament, I really did laugh out loud. It's hard to convey that dumb-surprised look with just words, but Wildcat does it effortlessly! This is a story that left me clamoring to know what happens to Uhura and Spock in the days and weeks after the aliens have left for eternity. Surely, there's got to be some residual smoke from those passionate fires!

The first of Wilcat's stories in which Spock and Uhura get together. But here it happens in such an original way that someone who didn't read it cannot even imagine. Go read it, and then read all the series too!
