The Way You Know Him is a highly regarded popslash AU co-written by Beth and Kaelie. It pairs Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez (JuC - see also: Popslash/Pairing_Names) and places them in a real world setting in which JC is Justin's boss at a publishing company as well as the scion of a prominent New York family.

The story takes place over the course of one year; structurally, it's set up so that each chapter represents (and is named after) one month: "January", "February", etc. Including the epilogue, that brings the total number of chapters up to thirteen.

It was posted chapter by chapter to Kaelie's former fanfic website, The Ghetto, then moved to AO3 between 2011 and 2012 after The Ghetto became defunct.

Fan Commentary

Beth and Kaelie offer another story full of well developed characters and plot, including all five of the guys - this time set in a small publishing house in NYC where Justin is a new hire, and JC is the cool, distant, powerful CEO. As Justin and JC get to know each other, there are funny moments, hot scenes and so much sexual tension you want to scream. There are chapters of it. Gah! [1]
This is a long story, set over a 12 month period, it's an AU with wonderfully developed characters. Justin is a junior book editor at an independent book publisher in New York and JC is a highly paid CEO. The world, the characters, the descriptions-the entire story is phenomenally detailed and dimensional. This is an amazing story. It's really well plotted and paced. The sex is hot and the drama is hotter. I think what gets people about this story is the emotional aspect of it, with characters as sympathetic and highly developed as this, it's impossible not to feel invested in the outcome of the story.
