Reactions and Reviews
Due South is a fandom that has been with me for a very long time. It's probably one of my first non-anime fandoms and event though I rarely follow current writers and stories in this fandom these days, I enjoy returning to my old favorites from time to time. The Warmth of Spring and its sequel were one few exceptions to my Fraser/RayK restriction in the fandom. I never imagined that the pairing of the two Rays would work but I found that I love them even better than Fraser with any of the two Rays. Unlike the difference between the polite Canadian guy who can do almost anything and the hot-headed American cop friend, there are remarkably many similarities between the two Rays. Benton Fraser only being one of them.
I greatly enjoyed the development of the stories and the decisions the characters make. Reading this story is an interesting trip to the Due South fandom, that shows you an alternative to the Mountie/cop pairing that we all know and love.[1]
I adore the gradual development of their relationship - the change from jealous dislike to love that fuzzicat develops so plausibly. Some readers will have a cow at the use of "Stan" for Ray Kowalski but as a story from Ray Vecchio's POV, I find this plausible - plus I don't have any real objection to it per se.[2]
Oh my, oh my. As a true Mountie fan, I was stunned by how much I enjoyed this RV/RK story. Fuzzi’s dialogue is amazing -- for both Rays (except for the subject matter, it could be right out of an episode)! In fact, I loved this story so much, I volunteered to beta read the sequel!! [3]
