The Stag and the Hound is a Hans Capon/Henry fanfic written by guysarestripping. The fic has been bound as a book, featuring fanart for it as well. It's spoiler free for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

Summary

A lord must beware the knight who prays with a sword in hand—and learn the weight of his own sweat-soaked silk. In Bohemia’s heart, two men carve sin into each other’s skin, begging the wolves mistake their moans for psalms and don’t sing their names to God.

Development, Narrative Choices and Inspiration

The plot of "The Stag and the Hound" had been "brewing" for seven years and, according to the author, came to fruition after the intro of the second game, which they described as an "insanely homoerotically coded two hour intro to kcd2".[1]

The author has shared a playlist for the fic here.

Reactions & Reviews

Oh holy shit, I was just thinking the other day that I'd love to read a fic with a hardened Henry contrasting with a more naive/sheltered Hans (if that makes sense) and THE UNIVERSE (you) ANSWERED.

This was delicious, beginning to end. Your Henry has such grit and bite, and that first scene in the tent was brutal and, well, sexy KSHJSA You captured Hans' conflicting guilt and attraction to Henry so well. It was a tough but utterly compelling read — I want to tattoo the words into my brain HAHA

And Henry spelling out for Hans at the end that Henry has wanted this just as much :")

Thank you for the fic![2]

oh jesus, i knew it would be good after the first scene and especially The fear pooling inside him was framed in gold by Christianity. but it just Blew My Mind, i physically wasnt able to stop reading

the way you use words is incredible, like if this was a book i'd have to grab a pencil and some stick notes to mark quotes. the ambience, the forest AND THE TOMBBBB and all of those sounds and smells, it's so beautifully written even if it's not beautiful itself yk yk?? like the grit and all that. aaaaaa

THE CONTRAST between henry and hans, henry's toughness and hans' inexperience in literally everything, from work to sex..... amazing. i loooved the religious guilt and the ever-presence of saint agnes, it was so well done.

instant subscribe. another comment said you're planning to write more and i will be seated

thank you so much for your work and sharing!

also the author's note in the beginning made me lol and also so true. "let's strip, henry!" 🏳️‍🌈❓[3]

I don’t even go here, I just heard about this game’s sequel, watched it on youtube cuz I don’t have 90 bucks for it, and then took a sneaky peak at fics because I’m a sucker for gay knight stories, and oh my god this is the first one I stumbled on ?!??!?

Like is this the best piece of erotic historical fiction ever ??

This prose is beautiful throughout. The first scene in particular I was like oh this is so erotic. And I think my brain short-circuited at the bit about the Romans and calling you boy like your father did. Whew. The depiction of sex being so rough and graceless if borderline violent all wrapped up in religious guilt is so good. All the imagery and description is also so immersive for the setting and just. Beautiful.[4]
