The Sidhe is a Klaine AU fic written by Glee fan Chazzam. It was originally published to Fanfiction.net in 2011, and was also posted to the Archive of Our Own in 2014.

Summary

Epic romantic fantasy adventure, seriously AU, with angst and fluff in equal measure.

The Sidhe are a powerful race of elves that have been weakened and enslaved by humans. Blaine has always hated the practice, but over the years he has grown resigned to it as a social reality.

But everything changes when he finds himself falling in love with one of the creatures, and becomes determined to help him escape.[1]

Adapted as Origfic

"The Sidhe" was adapted into an original novel of the same name - the first installment of The Heart of All Worlds trilogy - which was published by Interlude Press on July 21, 2015.[2] The sequel was published on December 8, 2016.[3]

On August 4, 2015, Chazzam posted an updated on Fanfiction.net about the recent publication of the original fic version of "The Sidhe":

Hello! I don't know if anyone is still getting updates on this story, but here is the latest: The Sidhe has been adapted to the first novel in a trilogy and it is currently available to purchase from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Book Depository (Book Depository ships free worldwide), itunes, and directly from the Interlude Press store. It is available in both print and ebook form.

The novel is different from the fic. A lot of content from the original fic has been preserved, but a lot has been added and changed as well. If you are thinking of reading the fic instead of book 1 and then skipping to the second book in the series when it is released, you will find yourself quite lost (though if that's what you'd like to do, I certainly won't try and stop you).

When I signed with Interlude Press to publish this trilogy, I had no plans to pull the fanfiction version of The Sidhe from the internet. That is still the case. However, I have decided to change my fandom presence online in order to keep it to fandom. When folks who are not part of the Klaine fandom search for The Sidhe online I would prefer they find my book and not the fic. The fic is for you guys. I'd like to keep it that way.

So I have decided to begin the process of moving all of my fanfiction to Archive of Our Own (Ao3). It is, in my opinion as both a reader and a writer of fanfic, the best site for fanworks on the internet. It also offers the option of allowing me to keep my fanfic hidden from most search engines. What this means is that if you go to Ao3 and look for me, you will find me and all my fic. If you use google to look for my fic once I've moved everything, however, you probably will not be successful.

My username at Ao3 is Chazzam, just like it is here, and I already have a fair bit of fic there, including extras for The Sidhe that I never posted here at .

As always, please feel free to contact me on tumblr, and I hope to see you on Ao3!

And now to begin archiving all of your gorgeous comments so I'll always have something to make me smile...:)[4]

As of August 16, 2018, "The Sidhe" is still up on Fanfiction.net.

Reviews

There's a reason this is one of the top most popular and most beloved Klaine fanfictions of all time. Chazzam's work is of J.K. Rowling and J.R.R. Tolkein quality, creating an entire universe of custom, history, and language. Whether you're a Kurt and Blaine fan or not, readers will surely fall in love with this world and these characters and this complex love story. It's a far cry from their canon lives, closer to an epic Hobbit/LOTR-esque adventure, but with the added element of finding and falling into true love. Plus, the sex is delicious and beautiful.

Interlude Press is publishing the story as a trilogy, The Heart of All Worlds, and the first part, The Sidhe, is coming out in a few months. I strongly recommend you purchase it, or better yet, look up the original on fanfiction.net, and bask in all its glory.

There's a reason this is one of the top most popular and most beloved Klaine fanfictions of all time. Epic, pure genius, pure magic. A true masterpiece.[5]

I’ve read it and loved it, yes. It deals with heavy themes, though, abduction and slavery and abuse and such, so please heed the warnings. Also, it’s a fantasy story, and that’s not everyone’s thing.

I’d advise you to give it a try, though. It’s a beautifully written love story, with intricate world building and enough adventure and intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole fic through, and yes, the ending is heartrendingly perfect.

The author turned it into an original fiction trilogy, so you can even own it in book form these days.[6]

An absolutely breathtaking AU of Klaine being a Sidhe and Human pairing. The world itself was so beautifully crafted and every character so well written. It's one of the very few AUs that ended perfectly with everything that you needed to know told in the most bittersweet way. I loved that it wasn't exactly a 'happily ever after' but it was as close to one but still as realistic as an AU can be.[7]
