The Secrets of Isis is a CBS live-action superhero television series focusing on Isis the alter ego of Andrea Thomas, a seemingly normal schoolteacher, who transforms into the Egyptian goddess when presented with crises a mere mortal cannot resolve.
The program was the first weekly, American, live-action television series with a female superhero lead character, debuting September 6, 1975, predating the weekly debuts of both The Bionic Woman (January 1976), and Wonder Woman (April 1976). It had canon crossovers with the TV series Shazam! and thus they have a shared universe. This was Isis/Andra Thomas' first appearance, as the character was created for the Captain Marvel timeslot on the CBS network which was originally going to be Mary Marvel, however the DC Comics licenses fee was too high - thus an original character was created which is later added to the comics.[1]
Fandom
Fandom for Secrets of Isis seems fairly small, only a few picspams, fanart, cosplay can be found on Tumblr. Most of the fanart dedicated to the series appears mainly on DeviantART. Fans also seem to edit or update Andrea's transformation into Isis into animation or animated storyboards. At least one fansite can be found on Angelfire.
Its unknown if any fanzines or mailing lists or general fandom existed for the TV series pre-internet.
