The Scribbler has the subtitle "The Author's Zine." It is a instruction and tutorial zine that accompanied a mail-correspondance service run by two fans, Anna Parrish and Fatima Mohammad.

From Media Monitor #10:

This is a lesson/study course in fannish writing cover grammar, types of sentences, characterizations, use of description, etc... The price of the zine does NOT include the mailing of the lessons, critiques, etc. by the editors of The Scribbler.

From On the Double #32:

Created by Fatima Mohammad and Anna Parrish. This is a workbook for those who want to be writers but are not quite sure how to become one. The cost of a "big-time" course can run up to $700.00, and the schools mean you have to leave your house, night after night, in all types of weather, rain, cold, unrelenting heat. Why should you? Order ours. It contains lessons, assignments, and much needed data. (Example: How many stamps do I put on this envelope?). The cost is $10.00 for the how-to booklet, (48 pages). The hard copy can be ordered from Bill Hupe [address redacted]. You can order it on a disk from me, same cost. Just let me know Ascii, WordPerfect 5.1, 3-1/2 or 5-1/4. If you think the book is worthwhile, Fatima Mohammad and myself will guide you through it, give pointers, point out mistakes, offer encouragement. This portion of the zine will cost an additional $50.00. Yes, just $50.00. You've read my work. Some of you may be familiar with Fatima's. She's new at the zine business but she was taking college credit courses while still in high school. All of these classes were writing intensive. The $50.00 fee is due only after you have seen the zine and is non refundable, but it includes free editing of one story or article after the course work is completed. This zine contains a how-to on fiction, poetry, and article writing.
