The Sandburg Subject is a slash and het 196-page AU anthology of Professionals stories that portray Jim Ellison as a hooker.

Zine Introduction

Jim's a Hooker. That's what we called this zine as it was being written. I think it explains the whole thing, myself Every story in here has Jim Ellison in the role of a hooker, making a living selling that gorgeous body of his. That might sound like an odd theme for a Sentinel zine and you're right, it is.

This whole thing came about because Sue Wells showed up in Vancouver for Sentinel Con '98 with a copy of the photo on the cover. I obsessed about this picture from the moment 1 saw it and when she had Mr. Burgi autograph it I had the sudden urge to rip it from her hands. Only the thought of having to explain why RB had signed my photo to "Sue" stopped me.

Anyway, when I got my very own copy at Media West I found myself talking with a group of equally rabid Sentinel fans. One thing lead to another and somehow the notion that this photo was taken outside a motel sprang up. So, obsessed fans, gorgeous photo, weird idea [equals] zine.

I want to thank all the authors for doing such a wonderful job. Joram hadn't written in over a year but she rose to the occasion and sent me one of the best pieces I've read. She captured Tun perfectly! And Tevan is outstanding. She always drags poor Blair through it but makes his suffering so much fun! Mirenna, PJ, Connie and Kathy are all great. I hope you read their stories and come away as impressed as I was.

Reactions and Reviews

A very fun 'zine, with lots of great stories. Gena Fisher is a very good author and she has several contributions to this 'zine. There are some major editing problems with this 'zine, though. I think the quality of the stories out-weigh the editing, but you might want to know about it in case these things really bother you. There's quite a variety of type style/size changes throughout. The pages are hand numbered and numbering stops completely about 26 pages from the end. [1]
