This story strikes me as an effective use of a story that couldn't find an ending. The Rep reads like a sex scene that couldn't find a home in a story, and so the author took a time-honored way out: turn the scene into a dream or nightmare! Maybe this isn't actually what happened (if the author wants to write in and say, I'd love to hear from her), but that's how it seems to me. Not that I'm complaining! It's a fun read, and a good writing lesson. Kirk has a sexual dream of Spock where the Vulcan is left unfulfilled. Plus, he's quite an innocent, and misinterprets their sexual activity. Where to go from there? Wake that captain up! Find your now-lover Vulcan in your bed, and take it from there. [1]
