The Reaching Out One is a Fraser/Ray K story by Alex51324.
Author's Notes
"Fraser as a Mountie in Deline, NWT and Ray as a detective in Chicago, IL. Every year they take their vacation time together and look for the hand of Franklin, the reaching out one, and when they run out of time they put a pin in the map and the next year they pick up where they left off. The story begins with Diefenbaker dies and the whole house of cards crumbles. Ray and Fraser have an adventure, confront their feelings, and rebuild their lives on a more solid foundation. Sex, death, happy ending. (The death is the one mentioned in the summary; there aren't any surprise ones.)"
Reactions and Reviews
The story is sparked by Dief's death, so handkerchief warning, but the story is beautifully constructed, with an understated feel that works really well with Fraser. [1]
It's far from a perfect story, not that there are any visible flaws, just, the pacing is not perfect. But it's so special and memorable and heartfelt[2]
