Reactions and Reviews

1997

STORY: Doyle awakes in the Village and after torture and questioning is given a place and a number - 4.5, of course. After various forms of confusion he meets Bodie, who becomes the only person there he can trust; but Bodie is working for Number 2. Or is he? Loving him, Bodie tries to escape with him, but Number 2 is waiting and Doyle is left captured and drugged.

This left me remembering what I liked about The Prisoner, and what I didn't like - among other things, the way it not only had no resolution, but that there was no resolution possible. This story was nicely evocative of the original show, retaining much more of its ambience than anything that has anything to do with The Professionals.

I didn't find the slash angle here very interesting, and would have liked to see more about Bodie's role and character. This came very close to being a story where it could have been any characters with those names. Nothing but the names made me feel it was really Bodie and Doyle in the Village. [1]
