The Passing of Time is a Kirk/Spock drabble by Buerste.

"Home" by Liz for The Passing of Time --"This is a color illo of an older Spock in a blue bathrobe (Jim's bathrobe maybe?). In the background we see the Golden Gate bridge. I adore the fellows older. Spock has the cutest expression on his face. What is so cool is that you can sense Jim's presence in the room. This artist knows her Spock. Nice work, Liz." [1]

It was published in the print zine Beyond Dreams #4.

Reactions and Reviews

This is a very short piece of fiction, which at least on the Internet would be referred to as a drabble. Despite that—or maybe because of it—it holds much emotional value, and is to me far more satisfying a read than many much longer pieces. Buerste has written a story where Spock reflects on how beautiful Kirk is to him, regardless of the fact that his lover has grown old and no longer is the dashing young starship captain that he once was. This drabble is beautiful, and portrays love in the 'autumn of life' beautifully. A wonderful reminder that love—true love—has very little to do with looks. [2]
