The Pairing List That Ate Fandom, or ithurtsmybrain, was a crossover pairing challenge run by trollprincess. For the challenge, people suggested characters from different fandoms (including real people), which were then randomly paired up (only veto power was when two characters from the same fandom were paired up) to create The List. The only rule when writing a story from the pairing list was that the pairing had to be romantic in nature.
There weren't that many fics written on each round compared to the number of pairings on the list, instead much of the activity (and fun) came from discussing the crack pairings.
The first round took place in Trollprincess' Livejournal, but as the pairing list became more popular, it moved to its own LJ comm for round five in 2004.
