Fandom

Though never a huge ratings hit, The Office had a strong fan following and at its peak, a multitude of fanworks were produced. The series also had a sizable cultural impact; the city of Scranton fully embraced its role as the setting of the show, hosting an Office fan convention in 2007 and a parade and wrap party when the series ended in 2013.

Fanfic and other fanworks lean heavily towards canon and het, most prevalent being the Jim/Pam pairing, with Dwight/Angela, Ryan/Kelly, and Jim/Karen also having a sizable following. There are some works devoted to the fanon pairings of Pam/Toby, Pam/Ryan, and Andy/Kelly, and the slash pairing of Jim/Ryan and femslash pairing of Pam/Karen.
