- Aramis/Queen Anne is a canonical pairing begun in Series 1 and continuing to the finale. Fics include moments from the canonical romance, slight canon-divergence get-togethers, post canon domestic lives and many alternate-setting AUs.
- Aramis/Athos
- Aramis/Porthos is a non-canonical pairing. The most popular ship in the fandom, some fics assume their romantic relationship has been going on in the background of canon, with various adjustments for canon relationships; some bring Aramis/Porthos to the foreground and adjust the plot to taste.
- Aramis/Athos/Porthos is a non-canonical pairing, assumed to be a romantic relationship that started before series 1 and has been going on in the background of canon. Usually assumed to be an established relationship when the show starts.
- Aramis/Athos/Porthos/d'Artagnan is a non canon pairing, sometimes referred to as OT4, assumed to start in series 1 and continue till the end of the show. The show has been modified to suit the OT4 pairing in many works of fiction.
- Constance Bonacieux/Queen Anne is a non-canonical pairing. During Series 2 Constance is Queen Anne's retainer and they remain close through to the end of the series. In canon-divergence fics, often strong on liege/retainer loyalty dynamics.
- d'Artagnan/Constance Bonacieux
- d'Artagnan/Olivier d'Athos de la Fère
- Athos/Milady Clarick de Winter
- Athos/Sylvie is a canonical pairing. Sylvie appears in Series 3 as a young worker for human rights and refugee aid who is sometimes in conflict with, often supporting Athos and the Musketeers. Many fics include scenes of their married life, often with small children. Canon strongly implies their sex has dom/sub elements with Athos enjoying taking the submissive role, at least part of the time - perhaps a reflection of his deep weariness with command, and his desire to retire from military life.
- Athos/Ninon is a canonical pairing. Ninon de Larroque only appears in one episode but had several romantically tinged moments with Athos. While Athos/Ninon is rare in the foreground of fics, she often appears in AUs as either an ex-lover or an ally of Athos.
- Athos/Porthos
- d'Artagnan/Athos
- Porthos/Elodie is a canonical pairing. Elodie appears late in Series 3, heavily pregnant and in difficult circumstances. Porthos helps birth her child. She appears again in the finale, and they agree to marry. She doesn't have a strong presence in fic, but we sometimes see post-canon married life, or Porthos interacting with his step-daughter, Marie-Cessette.
- Milady Clarick de Winter/Constance Bonacieux
- Milady Clarick de Winter/Queen Anne is a non-canonical pairing. Fics are often full of aggressive overtones, set during the time when Milady de Winter was the King's Mistress.
- Milady Clarick de Winter/Sylvie/Ninon is a non-canonical pairing. As the three love-interests of Athos are strong-willed, vivid women, some AU fic groups them together.
- Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu/de Treville is a non-canonical pairing. Cardinal Richelieu is the canonical villain of the first series while Captain Treville is the moral better/reluctant occasional ally. Fics usually focus on the hidden/secret nature of the relationship, also focusing on the duo acting in the best interest of France. There are occasional AU fics repairing the 'damage' shippers see as taking place during the second season.
