The Murderbot Diaries 2.0 is the primary Discord server for The Murderbot Diaries fandom. It was created in August 2020 as a successor to another server, The Murderbot Diaries, whose moderator was no longer active. It has since grown steadily to become a popular hub for the fandom, and has been credited with the growth in fanworks for The Murderbot Diaries overall.[1] The server community has its own tropes, headcanons and fanon. Events are regularly held, such as the Murderbot Diaries New Year Gift Exchange.
Organization
=Shipping Container and locked channels
Discussion of "romantic and/or sexual situations involving canonical characters from The Murderbot Diaries"[2] is restricted to two locked channels collectively called "The Shipping Container". Members may opt in to these channels, and separately into a non-MBD-specific NSFW channel and a MBD-specific channel called #despair-event-horizon for AUs and discussion that ask "how can we make it worse".
