The List of 'Professionals' Stories, or The Ultimate 'Hatstand' LIST, or The 'Now-I-Don't-Have-To-Do-This-Myself-Anymore' LIST was based on a database compiled by Sandy Springer.

The zine itself was created by Sharon F.

Its goal was to catalog, as of January 1992, all of the Professionals circuit stories.

The editorial mentions there would be regular updates, but it is unknown if this occurred.

How the Zine Came to Life

Welcome to a fantasy come true well, actually, two fantasies come true.

I've always envisioned this zine when I look at the billion and a half circuit stories that consume shelf space at an alarming rate, but I've never had the time nor the computer expertise to produce it. To the rescue came Sandy Springer (which is ironic because the first time I met her she was a die-hard, never-will-I-switch-to-another-fandom K/Ser who was able to withstand and ignore the enticement of tight, tight, tight cream-colored trousers in Rogue). While moaning about the sorry state of my B/D collection and trying to get the now-converted Sandy (and Barbara and June and Anna Mae) caught up, Sandy surprised me with a copy of the list she'd made up to organize her collection.

One thing led to another and by September, a second fantasy was about to come true: namely, putting out a zine where I didn’t have to do any of the hard work. I hadn't thought it possible till this project came along.

Acknowledgments

I’ve always maintained that each of us contributes to fandom in some fashion, be it writing, arting, encouraging writers and artists, typing or re-typing stories, organizing and running lending libraries, supporting zines, etc. Sandy has found and filled her niche with this zine. I'm sure you all have lists of some sort, but no one has ever made such a list so widely available. I can't lavish enough praise on Sandy for her generosity and willingness to share her lists with all of us.

You all recognize what a massive undertaking this was. I know I speak for everyone who will use this zine when I say Thank You to Sandy for the left-brain-ness and generosity which produced this zine.

Gratitude is also due others for the freely given help which was important to the success of this project. Noel Silva, Darien Duck and Elaine Wells all spent considerable time checking over various versions of these lists. Their comments and corrections are most appreciated. Sarah Leibold played a major role in getting this out of the realm of fantasy and into your hands (or computers). Her willingness to do the rest of the hard work (i.e. copy and mail out the zine) was akey part of the project.

Others, too - Linda Neel, Carol Hunterton, Sherry Zoeller, Michele Rosenberg, Carla Salveta, Lily Fulford, [Maureen B], and Barbara Halfen - in less tangible ways helped nudge (and sometimes shove) this dream into reality.

About the Zine's Content

And now, about the zine itself. It is as complete as we can make it. We know there are stories and information about stories missing. We know there are mistakenly attributed pieces and other errors of misinformation. We need your help in making this a more correct, more definitive listing of what's been produced by the authors who have given us our fandom. If you know of any changes that should be made, or have copies of stories not listed, please get in touch. When updates are issued (the first -the pink one because pink is, and always will be, the in color - will be out as planned, in April), we'll have a section that deals with changes in the main list. So, word will get out if anyone spots inaccuracy, Please tell us rather than just bitch and moan to your friends.

Secondly, this zine is meant to be copied (although I would like to sell the remaining 20 of the minimum print run we had to do). Please feel free to pass this zine around and xerox it till it's unreadable. The updates will be published in April, August, November and January, 1993.

Also in January we'll make available a new master list that incorporates 1992. If anyone wants a disc copy, please get in touch and we 11 work out the details.

One other thing, if you know of a new story, or if you write or better yet. anew circuit story or poem please let us know, send us a copy so we can be sure to get your work on the list.
