Reactions and Reviews
1998
This is the first "return to the amusement planet" story I had read and I had fun reading it and more fun thinking up other adventures for the boys. Nice job working Kirk into Spock's fantasy - both having Spock think him up and enjoy him and in having Kirk surprised by it. I enjoyed this one, too. [1]
It’s been four years since his last pon farr and Spock is going into it again. This time he tells Kirk and McCoy right away. He says returning to Vulcan won’t do any good because there’s no one there for him. So Kirk decides to search for a mate for Spock and in a neat scene, employs the computer. He comes up with the plan to take Spock to the shore leave planet. Spock agrees but believes he will die anyway and so before he beams down, he makes a last tape for Kirk... this is another story with an unresolved ending which sort of worked, but was certainly incredibly sad.
