Reactions and Reviews
1994
First person Spock. I think this POV is awkward at its best, and doesn't work that well in this story.Spock is "jealous." Kirk doesn't seem to have quite enough time for him, and he wants Kirk as a lover. The realistic look Spock is taking at himself for having such an admittedly immature feeling as jealousy, was portrayed very well.
Spock sees desire in Kirk's eyes for McCoy??
They are living in San Francisco; there is a party at Uhura's. A young man, Curtis, looks just like young Kirk. He flirts with Spock, and they leave together to go have sex. "You can even call me Jim." Somehow this man knows. Turns out it is Kirk from an alternate universe, where he always loved his Spock but Spock died in his first pon farr.
I kind of wish Spock had been under the influence of something; I could have better imagined him falling for this illusion. It's a great idea, but was written almost too casually. It could have been more intense: we could have really felt that Spock felt he was with his Kirk, and felt the love the alternate Kirk has for his Spock.
Sad ending, Spock to Gol. [1]
A first person story of Spock experiencing unrequited love for Kirk. He meets a stranger who reminds him of Kirk and they spend a weekend together until Spock finds out about this gift.
Unique and interesting, although should have been much longer, this was well-written with a bit of sadness and poignancy.
I enjoyed the little touch of the stranger referring to "juncing" - a neat slang word for the obvious! [2]
This is another of Anna's imaginative stories with lots of potential. I wish she had taken a little more time with Spock's realization, however. I'm also curious about the name Curtis. Was it chosen because it's close to Kirk? I liked the idea of a Kirk from another universe loving a Spock who was callously treated by his Kirk. [3]
